In Hazel class we start every morning with a 'Think'. This is a question, sometimes a puzzle or a riddle, that we write on our bubble boards when we come in in the morning to get our brains ready to learn!

As I won't see you tomorrow.... I thought I would give you one to think about at home....

Think..... of an adjective to describe the picture below.  The best ones will get Dojo points!

As part of our topic work on the Egyptians, today we learnt how to spell our names in hieroglyphics and explored what some of the symbols mean.

The children had lots of fun saying their names in 'Ancient Egyptian' by writing them without the vowels!

Well done for your hard work today Hazel Class.

 The ice cream sum game.

It helps you lean subtraction in maths. If you get it wrong the penguin will go mad. A customer comes in and it comes up with a speech bubble with a sum in it and you have to get the ice cream he wants.

The crazy cone game is a fun way of helping us with our fast mental maths, we use the ice cream sums to help us practice our fast mental subtraction skills – Mrs. W

What a busy day we've had! Today in Literacy our focus was story writing.  We exercised our imaginations using Rory's Story Cubes and some children were lucky enough to work in our special writing area.

We have also finished our 'Angry Verbs' display in the corridor... well done Hazel Class, it looks fabulous!

Parts of a skeleton

We have been learning about parts of a skeleton.

Like a skull, pelvis , clavicle, tibia.  We have learnt these things because of our brilliant teacher and we used a game on our whiteboard and we learnt with a game like Simon says tapping the part of our body when we said the name.

Maths Mates

We have been learning how to add up big numbers with help from bread head and triangle man.  They always give us confidence and although bread head worries all the time, triangle man helps us not to worry about our maths.  When bread head worries toast sometimes pops out of his head.  We have learnt how to carry numbers , we’ve also been learning to partition numbers.

Our tree poems

This morning we went outside to look at the trees in the nature garden, to help us use describing words, senses and similes.

I enjoyed it because we could try and think outside for a change, it was fanjollytastic!
