Welcome to our website!
This page will be linked with our Life learning platform to keep you updated of the ongoings in Hazel class and allow the children to share their fabulous work with you! I have added some basic class information below, but if there is anything else you would like to see added, please do let me know. So far, the children have been an absolute pleasure to teach and have enjoyed exploring their new classroom. If at any point, you have anything at all you wish to discuss with me, you will find me on the playground after school.
Best Regards
Mrs.Wright
Our basic homework structure is as follows:
Wednesday - Spellings sent home for children to revise for the following Wednesday
Friday - Literacy and Numeracy homework sent home to be returned the following Wednesday
There will also be times when children will be encouraged to research a topic or focus we are working on or bring items into school to help with our learning.
Reading Books
Reading is a key focus in Hazel Class, we have special relaxing reading time to enjoy our books so please make sure reading books are brought in every day. It is also important to read at home, even if it is for 10 or 15 minutes it will really help bring reading skills on! Children will also appreciate you varying their reading material, whether you ask them to read a sports report from the local paper or get them to help with your shopping list!
Both Mrs Myers (our learning assistant) and I will regularly listen to the children read, so it is important that we have their book in school on a daily basis. We also have our own small class library so children will also be encouraged to read a range of books from Harry Potter and Roald Dahl to poetry and brand new adventure stories.
Tip! If you have a smart phone or access to the internet, download the Kindle App free – it contains endless classic children’s stories all totally free of charge!
Behaviour
Hazel Class children decided on their own behaviour charter which they take pride in following every day. We also have a system called Class Dojo – where children earn points for behaviour, effort and their work. They will soon start to bring home details of how to log into the system at home, so feel free to have an explore or just ask them how many points they got at the end of a day!
Tip! If you would like a copy of your child’s Class Dojo weekly points it can be emailed directly to you so you can see how well they have done!
P.E
This term Hazel Class will be having two P.E sessions, one on a Monday and on Tuesday we are lucky enough to have a multi sports coach visiting school to lead a session. Please ensure pupils have their kit in school on these days.
Exciting things!
I will be encouraging the children to be as independent and responsible as they can for their own learning this year, we have many exciting things planned and to share them we have created our own class website which will be used alongside the Life platform to keep you up to date with everything that we are doing. You can log on to http://hazelclass.weebly.com/ to read our blog and hear about our learning for the week.
Tip! Some great sites for at home learning activities!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ - lots of activities including Literacy, Numeracy and Science
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/ - A great (and fun) site packed with things to keep children busy and getting their brains working!
http://www.brainpop.co.uk/ - a modern site with lots of videos and whizzy things!
